Dr. NGUYEN Quoc Khanh,
Director General of National Remote Sensing Department (NRSD), Ministry of Nature resources and Environment (MONRE), Vietnam.
Chair of the Sub-committee on Space Technology and Applications of ASEAN (SCOSA) in Vietnam.
He received the Engineering degree in photogrametrie (Aerophoto geodesy) from Moscow University of Geodesy-Cartography, Russia, in 1988.
From 1990 to 1996, he worked in Remote sensing center (Vietnam), which was under of State Department of Surveying and Mapping, a former agency of the Government of Vietnam specializing in the management, research and application of surveying and cartographic technology. During this time, he focused on the interpretation of optical remote sensing images such as: aerial images, satellite images for surveying-mapping tasks.
He recieved a PhD of photogrametrie (Aerophoto geodesy) from Moscow University of Geodesy-Cartography, Russia, in 2000. After that, he came back to Vietnam and worked at the Remote Sensing Center (then the National Remote Sensing Center) under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, where he holds the position of Director of the Center for Environmental Resource Monitoring. During this period, he focused on researching and processing optical and radar remote sensing data in natural resource, environmental and disaster monitoring in Vietnam.
Early 2009, he left the National Remote Sensing Center to work as the Director of the Environmental Data Information Center, under the Vietnam Environment Administration. At the end of 2016, he was appointed as the Director General of the National Remote Sensing Department, under MONRE Vietnam.
